                                                               Jason Bourne

Genre- Action/Thriller

Director- Paul Greengrass

Synopsis- Matt Damon reprises his role as the titular former CIA agent with a hazy past. Jason Bourne is the fifth instalment in the action franchise, and the third to be directed by Paul Greengrass.

Media Language- In both of the posters, there is minimal text as it isn't needed, the other parts of the poster is what gives the message of the film and what is going to happen. On one of the posters it says the words 'You know his name' but not on the other. This gives the two posters a different approach towards a different target market. One poster is going more towards people who are already fans of the film and the other poster is trying to attract new viewers to watch the film.

Camera- Both of the posters use a medium shot of the main character which allows the audience to see the whole of his body and what he is doing with his hands. On the second image there is some sort of establishing shot of a city and also a close up of some police cars on fire which makes the poster more dramatic

Editing- There is lots of editing in both of the photos but mostly in the second image. There is lots of things going on in the second poster and so a lot of editing has been done to show the characters, the location and also a part of what is going to happen in the film. The first image has a more plain feel to it but the gun and half of his face will have had some sort of editing and it has just the same impact as the second poster.

Mise-en-scene- The body language in the two posters show the characters very focused on what they have to do. As I have said before the first poster has no real background and so there is hardly any colour on that poster compared to the second poster where there is lots of bright lights but also there are dark colours. This is another example of the posters looking dramatic.

Media Language- In the trailer, the media language is used through the text. Right at the start of the trailer, the words 'You know his name' comes up in the trailer. This is directed to the audience which draws them in to watch the rest of the trailer.

Camera Angles- The trailer has lots of quick little shots all different camera angles with establishing shots being used and also medium close up shots. There are lots of other shots used which is used to make the trailer more dramatic for the audience to watch.

Editing- As I said before, there are lots of little cuts to create tension with jump cuts being used to show different scenes in the film. This keeps the audience interested as they can see so much going on in the trailer.

Mise-en-scene- Mise-en-scene is shown with lots of different flashbacks of Jason Bourne's past which gives you a sense as to what he has been through. Lots of different locations are shown which shows different scenery and shows how people in the film are shown to be in different situations.

Sound- There are many sound effects used such as the start he is lying on his bed and you can hear the fan moving very slowly. There is also some intense music added in to show what is happening in that scene shows some sort of danger. The sound effects such as when the music gets louder is linked to when something happens such as when Bourne punches someone, the music becomes more powerful and dramatic.

Evaluation of these products

The products produced which links the posters and trailers together is that the same words are used in the trailer and the poster, 'You know his name'. This shows that this will be significant to the film itself and also attract previous fans of the films before to return and watch the new film. This will benefit universal as they are the company who made the film and so will be able to make a bigger profit as more people will come and watch the film.

                                                  Adulthood

Genre- Crime/Drama

Director- Noel Clarke

Synopsis- Not Straight Outta Compton, but straight out of jail and back on the mean streets of London. A story of retribution that has Sam Peel fighting for more than just his freedom. After a six and a half year stretch for murder, his troubles are just about to begin.

Media Language- As you can see in the poster, there is lots of text all over the poster. At the top has a selection of reviews from film critics and the audience can see that the film is though to be very good. This is used to attract more people to come and watch the film. It has also has the date of which the film goes to the cinema so people will be able to know when they can go and watch it.

Camera- There is a medium long shot of all the characters in the film so you can see what they are wearing. There is also an establishing shot behind them of London which shows where the film location is.

Editing- The editing on the poster shows the sky very bright and light but then where the characters of the film is located, it goes very dark. This suggests that the characters are in a dark place. The baseball bat has also been purposely put on the poster to show that there may be some sort of violence.

Mise-en-scene- You can see that all the characters are dressed very similar which suggest there lifestyle. There is however one character which is dressed differently which might suggest that he has changed his life around for the better. The colour of the clothes are also very dark which shows possible signs of danger.

Media Language- This is shown through the text in the trailer. The first words which comes up are 'six years locked up'. This is telling the audience that one of the main characters has been to prison which suggests that he is violent and also could be a dangerous character.

Camera Angles- Lots of quick camera shots are used with a vary of shots being used mostly medium close up shots and also panning shots of people walking and running. These shots are used to create dramatic scenes as there is a medium shot of two characters pointing a gun at each other which shows there is going to be violence in the film.

Editing- Lots of quick cuts are used to create tension for the audience. There are jump cuts between different scenes which shows different parts of the film with a lot of dramatic and violence scenes shown the most. This is because this is what the audience will get excited about and then want to go and watch the film in the future.

Mise-en-scene-

Sound- The backing track used is a song which links the genre of the film and how the characters are portrayed. It is some sort of grime track which the characters shown in the film are shown to be chavs and so the music is stereotypical to the type of people shown in the film. There aren't that many sound effects in the film but at the end of the trailer, the sound of smashed car window is shown and heard which creates tension for the audience.
